Traveller badge explanation?

Hi guys,

Can somebody explain the logic behind travelling calculations?

I can see the new players (3 days playing) and they already have several thousands miles. Which is obviously a bug since I've asked them about travelling and they were not travelling at all except by foot.

From another side, I've physically travelled 10.000 miles from one continent to another (with several GPS fixes), and my miles counter haven't changed at all.

How's that possible?

It's a buggy badge. Whenever you load the map it'll sometimes put me in Germany... But I Haven't left Canada so have to reload. That how the majority get it. Other who travel a lot need to connect to a good enough signal for it to work (WiFi)

Mine's maxed but it had nothing to do with going from the US to Shanghai. Still want a badge for crossing the int'l date line, like the one for Greenwich.
