How gang merging is working?

I keep scrolling down on forum but it seems that I just can't get any clarity on the subject... So, there is another gang near my area, their chief is active whereas their 3 other members are inactive. We're talking with said player (the chief) about joining us but both is and him don't want to loose his/his gang's 500 areas... So how do we achieve this, meaning to join us and the 500 areas of hime to be transferred to us along with him joining? Through gang merging? If affirmative, how is this done? If negative, is there any other way?

hello, if you merge they dont lose areas because they "bring" with them. So they dont need to attack area after they merge with you

If you want merge need everyone of one gang go to the second and its better if the boss go in last. If you got people in one gang who stopped to play. Kick them from gang because if there again one in the gang you will not merge totally with the points
